Life Lessons…Fire and Hair = Catastrophe
At the beginning of each new semester, I constantly remind my students to ensure their hair is tied back and away from their faces during lab sessions in case of any accidents.
Apparently this week…I forgot to remind myself.
As I sat down at my desk at home, hard at work with my lighter, it did not dawn on me that I still had my hair out from the day’s hairstyle, which included my “bangs.”
It was only when the distinct scent of burning hair wafted across my nose did I realise what I had done. I quickly pulled the strands to assess the damage, only to see the ends of my hair crumbling off like crumbs from a cookie! ( I forgot to take a pic of the crumbs..that fell on my desk, floor and bathroom counter) What a sight to behold!
The day’s hairstyle…quick look at some of my singed ends (pics aren’t the best)…taking all precautions hair was up for the remainder of the week! |
I Really Wasn’t Ready for a Hair Cut!
From the look of things I burnt off about 1 1/2 inches of my hair and then had to cut 2 inches of singed ends off.
Of course I was traumatized! And me being my dramatic self decided to put on a Broadway production detailing the incident to everyone who would listen …to which people responded with fits of laughter to this apparent oversight of hair hanging down my face…in front of my eyes…
Looking back …I can now say that it was absolutely hilarious and I can’t help but laugh at myself…but it took me about 20 minutes before I could really do this (approx. the length of time taken for me to showcase my Broadway talent).
This is one mistake I won’t be making again…. We don’t need to learn everything by experience folks. Trust me on this one when I say:
