AND OUR COMMITMENT TO ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
Our Sageroots story is a simple one.
We made a commitment to use healthier and environmentally safe personal care and home products. In 2012, after much research, Sageroots was born.
Our handcrafted products are made in small batches using organic and locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, with a focus on ensuring every aspect of our business works in harmony with the environment…the way nature intended.
Our environment is important to us, and with that in mind, we strive to be a company with a conscience. While it is important that we create products that work, it is equally important for us to create products that do not negatively impact our environment.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM OUR PRODUCTS
BIODEGRADABLE/ RECYCLABLE
We package our products in containers that are easily recyclable or are biodegradable. Bring your glass containers to your Sageroots recycling drop point or cut up and toss in your garden for composting.
CRUELTY FREE
We have never tested our products on animals and we never will..(unless of course we make a product specifically for them).
GENTLE
You’re sensitive, we get it. That’s why we’ve formulated these products to care for tender skin. They’re great for babies too!
NON-GMO
Genetically modified ingredients may have unpredictable and unpleasant impacts on our body. We would rather not take the risk, so we opt to not include them in our products.
ORGANIC INGREDIENTS
Healthy farming practices are important to us. Wherever possible, we use organic ingredients in our products. This means our ingredients are safe from left over residue from synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, and the farmers are safer too!
NO SYNTHETIC INGREDIENTS
Synthetic ingredients can cause undesired effects in our bodies. We try to stay away from these and use safe natural alternatives instead.
VEGAN FRIENDLY
While all of our products are vegetarian friendly, some are also formulated without any animal byproducts like honey and beeswax. These receive a special stamp of approval as being vegan friendly.
Here's how do we do our part to “green” the business. We:
- use reusable/ washable cloths instead of disposable paper towels.
- use reusable vs. disposable versions of equipment i.e. Glass bulb droppers instead of plastic pipettes.
- do not use chemical fertilisers in our gardens.
- compost all plant material from our infusions and distillations and use in our Sageroots garden.
- use water recirculation systems for our equipment that needs constant water supply, and rely on solar energy to heat and prepare our herbal infusions.
- package our products in reusable glass containers that can be easily sanitised and reused.
- print labels (and business cards) using environmentally responsible paper and ink and we save printing for special occasions to reduce of paper & ink usage.
- reuse packaging from our shipments to package and deliver/ship orders to our customers or use environmentally friendly packaging materials.
- avoid using ingredients that are threatened and irresponsibly sourced
- walk to work!
